Be’er Sheva

As a photojournalist, I reflect and sort through the many photographs I captured here and abroad over the last ten years. There are the beauty shots, and then there are cultural impacts that not only would touch the outside spectator but have been a revelation moment personally as Jesus was showing me how unjust judgment is killing, but simple love is growing. Even if within our own hearts.

Here, I was part of a group of Arab Palestinians ten years ago in Be’er Sheva, Israel. What was one out of several points in the country that wounded Jewish soldiers would get sent to recover in hospitals. They were part of the IDF (Isreal Defense Force) on the front lines between the terrorized Gaza strip, protecting Isreal from its enemies, primarily Palestinian-led Islamic groups. The hospital at Be’er Sheva, at that time, was one of the largest in the country.

On this particular day, with children, pastors, and families, they delivered flowers to Jews as a blessing. For thousands of years, Arabs and Jews have fought against one another since Isaac and Ishmael.

Children are shown counting the many roses ready to go inside the Ber’er Sheva hospital.
